About Us - Youth Programming

While our ministry has grown and changed a lot over the last 5 years, our first and primary ministry is our after-school and summer programming with at-risk youth in Lonsdale and Parkridge.

Thrive After School Program

Thrive After School program is the heart of what we do at Thrive. Every day, Monday - Friday, approximately 200 students from the Lonsdale + Parkridge neighborhoods join us for an afternoon packed with programming that aims to meet students’ spiritual, emotional, academic, and physical needs. We are do this by connecting our students with spiritually mature adults who have been blessed in abundance in those areas.

Our students participate in Bible studies and small groups, homework-help time, one-on-tutoring lessons, reading lessons, team + character-building activities, educational electives, outside play time, and share a healthy, home-cooked meal.

We have a program capacity of 212 kids (156 total for elementary campuses, 36 for Middle School, and 20 for High School) in our after school program. We accept students from 1st - 12th grade and daily attendance is required.

Thrive Summer Program

Summer Thrive is a 6-week full-day program blending educational activities with encouragement, excitement, and fun. There is an emphasis on English with lessons in both reading and writing daily. Program is built around a fun theme that always includes an entry point to education. Summer Thrive welcomes students who have completed 1st - 8th grade.

The goals of Summer Thrive are for the students to:

  • Grow in their love of reading

  • Learn Biblical Truths of the Gospel

  • Experience fun and feel encouraged

Thrive Mentoring

Mentoring a Thrive student is an opportunity to intentionally invest in one of the youth in our program in a life changing way. Mentoring develops out of building a relationship with a student at Thrive over sports, homework, meals, etc. and then moving that relationship to time both on and off-site. Mentoring a student requires specific training and has a life long impact on both the mentor and the student. This relationship is so much more than planning fun activities to help a child feel valued. Christian mentoring, or discipleship, is an opportunity to point young men and women to the hope found in Jesus alone.
